Curry Smell In Apartment
Before you get crazy ideas about the title of the post, it’s not about my apartment. Indian apartments here in the US generally have a strong curry smell if the occupants are not careful. Air-conditioning was invented by the dude who never tasted curry in his life, it seems.
Of course, I take the maximum precaution when it comes to cooking. With a wife whose smelling senses would rival a dog’s, I have no choice !!
I came across this very interesting discussion on AskMetaFilter about removing curry smells from an apartment.
Some are hilarious
Febreze the hell out of it, open all the windows and doors as much as is feasible, and pray.
But others make a lot of sense
This kind of smell usually lingers due to the oils used in cooking (which become impregnated with the spices and carry them when they recondense.) I had to deal with it in an apartment, and the main solution was to degrease *everything*.
Check out the discussion and leave a comment if you have a trick up your sleeve, not mentioned there as of yet.

Just light a scented candle till you finish cooking. You can also peel orange and apple skin and keep in the oven for few minutes to remove odor.
