Diwali Mela 2007 in New York City

The Diwali Mela at South Street Seaport in New York City is the second biggest Indian themed festival in the city.

About three or four blocks around South street seaport are teeming with thousands of Indians who are out to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights.

The culmination is a fantastic fireworks display on the East River which can be viewed with a grandstand view on the steps of Pier 17.

This year the mela returns..

Date: Sunday October 14, 2007

Time: 12 noon to 8:00 pm

Venue South Street Seaport [directions on map]

Fireworks: 8:00 pm

    Can you please email me more info and some web site onthis mela. I really want to take part and also set up a booth for ny stuff – but I am not able to find any web site for this mela and organizers information.

    How come deepwali is celebrated in Oct when its today i.e 9th Nov’2007?? Is there any deepawali celebration today at Soth Seaport ?
