Marathi to be compulsory language in all Maharastra schools

Learning Marathi from Standard 1 to IV students in all non-Marathi schools in Maharashtra will be mandatory from the coming academic session.

“We have made Marathi compulsory for all non-Marathi schools from this academic year,” state Education Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said on Wednesday.

    This is so “f@%ed” on so many levels, that I dont know where to start. On another note…why should private schools follow this diktat ? They dont get their funding from the state, so do they need to enforce this upon themselves ?
