DOORMEN are as quintessentially New York as the Statue of Liberty, yellow cabs and bagels. So ingrained are they in the culture that Jerry Seinfeld devoted an entire episode of his television comedy series to a doorman, and in Sex and the City the sassy redhead, Miranda, was dumped by her boyfriend via the doorman.
