I came across a very nice article by a high school student of Indian origin. Padma Chitnavis, from Virginia, visited India recently and writes a nice account at Roanoke.com
Because I stayed for most of the summer, I was able to draw comparisons between their lives and mine. Actually, there were not many differences. They did live more simplistically than I normally would, having to dry clothes on a line for example, or walking or using public transportation more often than driving places. But all in all, I found that their lives were rather similar to mine.
