Obama’s Elegance and McCain’ (lack of) Integrity

Politics is a dirty game and those who play it somehow get tainted.

However all these years John McCain has been one of those who tried to stay above the dirty politicking that has been called Rovism after the Satan himself, Karl Rove. Rove probably holds the title of the biggest king-maker and destiny creator for the world, with his Machiavellian maneuvers over the last eight years.

Back to John McCain. The more I see and hear John McCain the more I am reminded of this scene from Sholay. Where McCain takes on the mantle of Veeru.

Yes, McCain made a decision that revealed many appalling things about him. In the end, his final concern is not national security. No one who cares about national security would pick as vice-president someone who knows nothing about it as his replacement. No one who cares about this country’s safety would gamble the security of the world on a total unknown because she polled well with the Christianist base. No person who truly believed that the surge was integral to this country’s national security would pick as his veep candidate a woman who, so far as we can tell anything, opposed it at the time.

This is why the US needs to elect Obama. Yes he may have his failings too, but at least the man is genuine.
