Yes, that’s what the typo read on an Ottawa County, Michigan ballot paper
Spell-check fails ‘public-pubic’ test
HOLLAND, Mich., Oct. 11 (UPI) — A Michigan county must reprint 170,000 ballots for the Nov. 7 election because no one noticed the letter “L” dropped from the word public.
Ottawa County, Mich., Clerk Daniel Krueger said the mistake was noticed last week, and he decided to reprint, as it changes the context of the ballot item, the Holland (Mich.) Sentinel reported Wednesday.
“My first thought was, ‘Oh crap,'” Krueger told the Sentinel. “We had about five or six people proofread it. Even after we told people it was in there, they still read over it.
About 10,000 ballots have been mailed to absentee voters but the remaining 170,000 will be reprinted at a cost of 30 cents each, or $40,000, which will come out of the county’s general fund, the newspaper said.[ link ]

I remember the time when my previous university had listed my major as ‘Pubic Policy’ on their website…and I was wondering why my job hunt wasn’t going as well as I expected 🙂
